When I was a child with low myopia, I was most conflicted about whether or not to wear children's eyeglasses in physical education class. Will myopia deepen without glasses?

Firstly, let me explain what myopia, astigmatism, and farsightedness are to analyze whether to wear childrens eyeglasses for a long time.

According to the different refractive states of the eyeball, it can be divided into emmetropic and nonemmetropic eyes, with the latter including hyperopia, myopia, and astigmatism.

The so-called emmetropic eye refers to the situation where parallel light rays from 5 meters away pass through the eye's refractive system without adjustment, and are precisely focused on the retina, forming a clear object image.

Are you envious of healthy eyes? For nonemmetropic eyes, the focal point formed by parallel rays in the distance is not located on the retina. If it is located behind the retina, it is called hyperopia; If it is located in front of the retina, it is called myopia; Astigmatism refers to the varying refractive abilities of the eyeball in different directions (meridians), which prevent parallel rays from forming a focal point and instead create a diffuse light spot.

The above three states are all refractive errors, and without external correction, the retina cannot obtain clear object images.

Generally speaking, regardless of the type of refractive error, the higher the degree, the less clear the retinal imaging. Moderate and high refractive errors can only be treated with long-term wearing of glasses to avoid affecting daily life, work, and study. For low-grade refractive errors, the situation is slightly different.
