Homemade or factory-made. If you have the time and desire, you can make a septic tank yourself or hire builders who will assemble a septic tank, for example, from concrete rings or even weld it from a barrel. However the tightness of systems assembled at the factory will be much higher, and no one will give a certificate for a homemade septic tank. A crack or error during installation can lead to contamination of the site and the appearance of unpleasant odors.
The septic tank's capacity should be selected depending on the volume of wastewater that you plan to discharge into it daily. If the volume of wastewater does not exceed 1 m3 per day, you can get by with the simplest single-chamber one. The same septic tank can be installed in a summer house where you rarely use water mainly in the summer.
A family of three or four people living in the house all year round will require a more powerful and efficient system. Choose between a two- or three-section septic tank and a deep bio-treatment station. If more than five people live in the house, it is better to install one of the most efficient bio-treatment stations. When calculating, take into account those who will live in the house permanently. Guests and relatives who will come to visit for a short time can be ignored.
